Basic Info
Name:doc_octavia
Birthdate:1981-10-03
Location:(states/regions/territories)
Bio
Name: Octavia Durand
Age: 26 (Turning 27 in literally days)
Occupation: Reed Richards Research Chair, Empire State University

Abilities: Minor X-factor mutation grants her mildly superhuman ability to multitask mental and physical activity and enhanced reflexes, approximately twice as fast as is possible for a non-superhuman individual. Most of her abilities, however, come from the direct attachment of four cybernetic tentacles, of an extraordinarily strong titanium alloy to her nervous system. Each of the four tentacles is capable of lifting up to ten tons. Each tentacle possesses a set of four powerful clamps, for heavy lifting, which can fold back and reveal several smaller fingers for more delicate operation. Each tentacle also has a port for accomodating attachments as needed. The tentacles are effectively part of her body, and she can manipulate all four, along with her own natural limbs simultaneously. They are also sensitive to touch. To accomodate the tentacles, Octavia's spine has been extensively reinforced.

In addition to her superhuman abilities, Octavia is a genius in physics and chemistry, especially in working with particle beams and related technologies. She is capable of designing technologies in fields related to her current research.

Backstory: Octavia was the product of a relatively brief romance between Otto Octavius (the infamous Doctor Octopus in America) and a swiss woman, Sophie Durand, during a period in which Octavius was claiming to be reformed from crime. As a young girl, she saw little of her father, due to his criminal activities. Her mother soon remarried a local banker, Charles Durand and until adolescence, she led a relatively ordinary, although privileged lifestyle.

However, upon adolescence, Octavia's (minor) genetic mutation manifested, resulting in crippling pain and mental instability, with symptoms including a horrible feeling of having 'missing' parts. Despite being a criminal, Otto had not forgotten his daughter, placing a significant portion of his criminal earnings in a trust account for her (with the connivance of her step-father) and offering his assistance with her condition.

No completely sane man would have decided to go ahead with implanting four cybernetic limbs directly into the spine of his daughter. But yet, this insane and desperate operation succeeded in giving her highly developed nervous system the extra 'work' it needed to maintain stability. Her condition improved markedly and soon, she was able to resume her studies.

Octavius himself retired soon after the operation, tiring of the endless game of villainy and wishing to enjoy the considerable wealth he had managed to gain over his criminal career. Octavia went on to follow in his footsteps in studying nuclear physics, and managed to get her Ph.D at Cambridge University at age 25. Now, she has been hired by Empire State University as the Reed Richards Research Chair in Physics.

Octavia is currently working on particle beams, with an eye towards developing a viable weaponized form for military development. In truth, she is hoping to develop functional particle weaponry for extortion purposes and has also engaged in a handful of clashes with a local hero, Spider-Girl as well as drawing together a new Sinister Six.

This is all for fun and is entirely fictional. Octavia Durand is an OC based in the Marvel Univese, which I do not own. Natalie Portman, regrettably, does not belong to me.
